Memes fried chicken is the best! The grease is so great. I like how they put the bread on top of the chicken and it absorbs the flavor. Im hungry

I guess I'm a day late and a dollar short commenting about this subject. Better late than never.
My all-time favorite restaurant: Avanti. Atmosphere, friendly and great service, quality food every time. Never had a bad meal there. Anyway, if it's in Frommer's, it has to be good!
Best burgers: Salas, hands down.
Best drink-and-eat: TB's. Best barbecue and sauce I've ever had--beats anything I had in Fort Worth, Austin, or San Antonio. Not to mention coldest long necks in town.
Ciudad Acuna: Manuel's. Steaks are choice beef, great price. Wonderful atmosphere. The best chili rellenos I've ever eaten. With an in-house package store.
I'm trying to lose weight, but my mouth is watering. Good thing I'm not in the area today!
Avanti's? How long ago did
Avanti's? How long ago did you go there? They are closed! Have they relocated yet????
The best place for your buck
The best place for your buck I think is taco TACO BLVD. I ate there and their prices were great. The food is like it truly authentic Mexican Food, not like other tex-mex restaurants.
They also have good coupons on this website.
WE NEED NEW PLACES TO GO
WE NEED NEW PLACES TO GO EAT, BOTTOM LINE. SOMETHING ELSE, RATHER THAN HAMBURGERS!!!!!!!!!!
NA it's 110 burgers in
NA it's 110 burgers in mexico they are the best!!!
Now, if you want to eat
Now, if you want to eat something really good, try the fish tacos at Union Cafe, they are great. They also have other great dishes, like pork carne asada and fish salad. Give it a shot, Hwy 90 past the country club. You need to check it out. It opens from 6 AM till 2 PM Monday thru Saturday. ( I eat there so much I even know their hours)
Yours trulu,

As you are in the mood to dine out, please visit Chili's Restaurant before the 25th of September and make a $1 donation in an effort to raise money for St. Jude Hospital. Eating out is fun and it could make a difference for cancer research this month.
Okay burger eaters! Sounds
Okay burger eaters! Sounds like folks like Memo's - 804 E. Lasoya; Chili's - 2415 Veterans Blvd; T&B's - 3806 Veterans Blvd; Benny's Cafe - 650 S. Main; Salas Better Burger - 913 E. Ogden; Sonic - 1510 E. Gibbs & 1109 Veterans Blvd; Whataburger - Veterans Blvd
I wasn't aware that Avanti's & El Portal sold burgers. Maybe that can be my next try. And one saturday, a trip across the border, to Hamburguesas 110 will follow....directions anyone????
And listen, a burger isn't bad for you once in a while. Just don't make a burger run every day! Remember, it has protein, grains (carbs), calcium (cheese), and veggies. Why not a burger???
So, since steaks were brought up, where can you get a really good one cooked to order perfectly? I'm thinking maybe Johnny's Steak House in Acuna. I'll give the results, with addresses again, next week.
Let's hear from you!
Bon appetite,
Erica
Del Rio, Dallas, San Antonio
Del Rio, Dallas, San Antonio and San Angelo do not have a place that serves a steak like Johnny's Steak House in Acuna. Beside being the best steak it is also the best price, you will still have money in your pocket when you walk out of Johnny's. Owned and run by Johnny's family and the service is execptional plus the coldest beer and best drinks around. Go to first red light on the main street of Acuna-turn right-cross the bridge and turn left in about 2 blocks on 16th of september--go about 7 blocks--Johnny's will be on your right side turn right then another right into their private parking lot.
OK Erica, In the interest of
OK Erica,
In the interest of not sounding too hungry, I have to say that Cripple Creek is my pick for a home town flavor when it comes to steak.
I do however like Wright's and now the Herald for a good steak... I'm a sucker for a good steak.
i like to go avanti.the food
i like to go avanti.the food is always good.service is good.do you know another place in town that clean with real tablecloth and napkins?i will go back again.
If you really want to try a
If you really want to try a great burger, go to Memo's Restaurant. The food is very good but the burgers are super! besides the view of the San Felipe Spring is fabulos.
The Brown Bag gives a taste
The Brown Bag gives a taste of local flavor, I like to eat there.
The folks that sell food in
The folks that sell food in the parking lot across from EZ Pawn has a taste of local flavor. I like to eat there.
Avanti's is a great place
Avanti's is a great place with local flavor. I love eating there.
Avanti's would be a better
Avanti's would be a better place, almost Italian, if they knew how to make good italian sauce for their pasta. Not bad for a once in a while type of thing, but not a great place. I think they need a little competition from someone so they really get with the program.
I like Avanti's. Every
I like Avanti's. Every place in town could use some improvment of one type or another, Avanti's not being any different. I personally like Avanti's due to the fact that I can hold a business lunch and not have to shout to be heard or feel crowded. My wife and I have been all over the world and the U.S. and their clam chowder in our opinion is definitely the best they sure can't match it out East or up North. I know Avanti's is billed primarily as Italian food but their "steaks" are tops. And Im a picky steak eater.
As for other eateries in town, Im partial to Chinto's breakfast tacos.
Try TACO BLVD's breakfast
Try TACO BLVD's breakfast tacos and then let me know what you think. They are awesome.
Try El Portal, that's a
Try El Portal, that's a local flavor if I've taseted one.
Dang ya'll I really didn't
Dang ya'll I really didn't need this type of story as I am already 40 lbs. over weight. Gonna go get me a hamburger to hell with it.
LOL I hear ya!
LOL I hear ya!
So, any one had a good
So, any one had a good burger out by the lake? Maybe even Bracketville?
Bon appetite,
Erica
You should try the 1 pound
You should try the 1 pound hamburger at Cripple Creek. That thing is a monster. Its bigger than the bass at thelake. lol. Am I the only person in DR that loves Memes Kleen Kitchen's fried chicken. That stuff really tickles my fancy. The grease is so good when it touches your lips. I really like how they put the bread on top of the greasy chicken. Makes the bread more tasty. haha
Well its not in Del Rio but
Well its not in Del Rio but in Acuna.. and thats the Hamburguesas 110.. they are the best!!!
I hadn't been there in years
I hadn't been there in years until Friday, it was better than I remembered.
Very friendly, very fast and best price in town.
As for the "Cash Only", they do take cards now, a friend of mine used his to pay and had no problem.
My favorite part is that it feels like it is being made just for me and not the same old assembly line crap that most places offer. If I want to ass things or leave things off, they make it seem like my order is the regular order.
You won't find much in the bells and whistles department, but that is what I like about it.
A burger in a plain white wrapper and a drink in a plain white cup. Keep the overhead low and the value high.
They also have chicken fried steak sandwiches, fish sandwiches, tacos and a couple of other things. So if you don't just want a burger you can have abit more variety.
3-2-1 For the price, Salas
3-2-1
For the price, Salas offers up a great burger. Whataburger has a good burger, but the best burger in town is the double cheese bacon and jalapeno burger at Sonic.
(Oh if I could just get off this diet to eat one........)
Del_Rio_Boy
I like all three, but i must
I like all three, but i must tell you, if you have the burger at Benny's Cafe on S. Main you might just rearrange the order... They make a mean burger
Benny's Cafe does have some
Benny's Cafe does have some mean burgers. I just visited last month and they are made as you wait. The vegetables are fresh, the beef tastes like beef and the buns are fresh. The cooks adds a touch of warmth to it buy sliding the bun slightly on the grill to warm it up. The service is very nice, the atmosphere is very welcoming because everybody knows everybody and the owners are there personally tending to your every need. The owner Mr. Eddy delivers all over town all day, which goes to show you how good this place is. I recommend this place to all.
I have two favorites!
I have two favorites! Coming in at #2 is Chili's and making a big impression at #1 is T&B's. Chili's is your place for consistant quality and taste, but T&B's makes it down-home style with the local flair of it's owners!
Bon appetite,
Erica
I have to disagree on
I have to disagree on Chili's and consistency.
Typically I am a repeat eater, meaning once I find an item or two I like, I tend to order it every time.
I don't think I have had the same, or near same results twice at Chili's.
If curious, I usually get the ribs (Memphis style) or chicken and ribs. the only thing that seems to always stay the same is the baked apples, which I am guessing are simply warmed from a can.
Same goes for the service, I have had amazing service and then I have had horrible service.
I haven't had T&B's yet, because every time I go by that place there are 100 cars in the lot.
