AVANTI is closed, but

AVANTI is closed, but friends and well-wishers gathered Saturday night to remember the popular eatery and dine for the last time.

JEANNE MICHELINI graciously sends her thanks and high regards to those who knew and loved her husband, Bob.

"Open letter to the people of Del Rio:

Recently many of you learned of the death of Bob Michelini on this site.

I am hoping that all of you will read this letter.
We, Jeanne (wife), Teri (daughter) and Tom & Paul (sons), were with Bob when he died in the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.  It was then left to us to travel to Del Rio and arrange his wake and funeral.  We thought this would be a bit difficult because we knew few people in this town.
However, the people of Del Rio surrounded us with gentleness, tender care and love.  You all made this difficult task much easier.

We thank each and everyone of you for your expressions of sympathy and concern.

We know Bob loved Del Rio and was its #1 Cheerleader.  We hope Avanti's and Del Rio grow, prosper and keep their wonderful welcoming spirit.

 Sincerely,

Jeanne, Teri, Tom and Paul Michelini"

Laurent, GOD Speed and hope

Laurent, GOD Speed and hope all goes well. Course my vote would be downtown Del Rio somewhere. Oh what a big shot in the arm would it be for downtown Del Rio...Maybe old SAMS BOOT Store.... Border Smiley

Laurent, I wish to thank you

Laurent, I wish to thank you for all that you have done to keep Avanti's alive. I hope that there is a way for you to stage "a comeback" so to speak. Good lord I am going to miss having an Italian choice for a meal. And here we are with an over abundance of Hispanic food. And I will be there!
