Now comes the city of Del Rio's lawyer who is representing the city in Pico's law suite against the city, getting head lines in the DRNH (Sun. 24th.)with an opinion letter. Not sure why the DRNH would run an opinion letter as a news story? The letter is clearly the cities lawyers opinion. The only reason to write a letter, like this, much less print it is to contaminate the jury pool in the event this law suite goes to trial. This seems to be a desperate move by the city and their lawyer. I hope the judge doesn't stand for this type of tactics.

I'm just curious where our high priced city manager stands on this issue, and how she plans to save the city from this one.
Ok, I read the piece in the
Ok, I read the piece in the DRNH. Are you sure that this lawyer/firm is representing the City? No matter that though, I don't see this as simply an opinion rendered by a law firm but more of a City directed Public Relations Press Release. I mean heck just look at the title.
Anyway so the next question is what are they hoping to accomplish with this. First and foremost I see it's being used as a way sway public opinion, but I don't necessarily see it as an an attempt to contaminate a potential juror pool. Heck I've seen this kind of thing happen in a lot of other high profile cases.
Secondly given the grief that some people gave the City Council and the Mayor the last time I would believe it's possible that this is simply an decently placed attempt at achieving some modicum of transparency for their actions. Also please note that they have telescoped their intended meeting with the Kusenbergers in an attempt to thwart any of their supporters should they try to paint the City as being hard headed and unwilling to negotiate like we did last time.
Just my thoughts.

Oh I can see them running an opinion letter as a news story, I just can't figure out why the City's legal council would do such a thing, considering his past behavior. I mean that guy want's everything done behind closed doors so what gives. Someone either told him to do that and that would have taken a majority of the council or someone simply used the open records act and swiped it from a council meeting using the open records act and published it.
Now for the City to have ordered this seems pretty stupid. Why would you let the opposing council know what you are thinking? I know my lawyers would have conniption fits if I were to telescope any of mine or their intentions in any type of litigation.
Now again I haven't read this thing since I only read the comics in the DRNH but I will try to find a copy and read this letter.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Is something
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Is something up? or is the City of Del Rio having to spin it in the newspaper. Why would anyone want to contaminate the possible jury pool unless there was something to hide? Where's the good faith meetings? I really think it more to meet the eye here.
Here Comes the Judge, Here comes the Judge and never to soon...Maybe the judge needs to meet with both sides again....
