Upper Canyon Tour at Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site

The Upper Canyon Tour includes hiking, sightseeing, viewing rock art and original 1882 railroad sites in the upper part of Seminole Canyon State Park & Historical Site. It is two miles long and takes 1 ½ to 2 ½  hours.

 

Make reservations at Seminole Canyon State Park & Historical Site at (432) 292-4464.  Provide name, number in party and phone number. Reservations cannot be taken for more than 30 days in advance to the tour date. Closing date is five days prior to the tour date. 

 

Tour meets at the park headquarters at 8 a.m. and departs at 8:30 a.m. Cash or check donation of $12 per person (this includes day use fee) or $10 per person for any park pass holder.

 

Due to the rough terrain and limited access, the group will have a maximum of 22

people and a minimum of five people. Must be at least 12 years of age, in good physical condition and have some hiking experience.  This will help ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Individuals not meeting these requirements will not be allowed to participate.

 

Personal items recommended: Sturdy rubber sole shoes, hat, water, durable clothing (no shorts), field glasses and a camera.  Don't overload yourself. No pets allowed. Tours will be canceled during inclement weather. Hikers must obey park rules. Those who do not, will not be allowed to continue the hike.
