DEL RIO, Texas – Enforcement activities by U. S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector, resulted in the seizure of 915 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated value of $732,624, over the past weekend.

On Friday evening, agents from the Eagle Pass South Station found a large stash of marijuana hidden in a 1998 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The discovery was made as agents at a highway checkpoint performed a routine immigration inspection on the driver. During the inspection, a service K-9 alerted to the exterior of the sleeper section of the vehicle. Closer inspection revealed 200 bundles of marijuana, weighing 416.56 pounds, hidden under the bed in the sleeper. The driver, a 32-year-old Eagle Pass man, vehicle, and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Saturday night, Eagle Pass South Station agents responded to a report of several individuals carrying large backpacks away from the Rio Grande. Agents arrived at the location to find a 2002 Dodge Neon with several large bundles inside. Agents searched the area and detained two male subjects, ages 15 and 21, both Eagle Pass residents. Agents removed 259.22 pounds of marijuana from the vehicle. The two suspects, vehicle, and marijuana were turned over to the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office.

Also over the weekend, Eagle Pass agents assisted the Department of Public Safety in an incident that netted 240 pounds of marijuana. A trooper reported he apprehended two subjects loading marijuana into a vehicle near a highway checkpoint. Border Patrol agents arrived and assisted, apprehending three more suspects.

Since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2007, Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents have seized more than $22 million of marijuana.

Hooray for the Border

Hooray for the Border Patrol. The hell with the politicians. The BP does the best it can--which in my book is awesome--given their manpower and numerous administrative restrictions. And do you suppose Bush will pardon Ramos and Compean before he leaves office?

You and me both Whirlwind, I

You and me both Whirlwind, I speak quite often with a number of BP agents and many are torn on their feelings as to the reasons behind their incarceration but all that I have talked to wish for a Presidential Pardon. I have heard that the ball was started rolling in that particular direction a while back, but I don't know the status of it. I also understand that there are some hurdles even if the President is willing to sign.

From all I've learned, from

From all I've learned, from different sources, it appears that these two guys should not have been convicted. What I don't understand is why they have not been pardoned. All kinds of petitions have been signed and circulated, and appeals made, and the silence to those has been deafening. Something is surely rotten in Denmark. Our BP agents are working under horrendous physical and political conditions.

Somehow this "story" looks

Somehow this "story" looks more like something sent by the government than anything you wrote. And these things come out all the time. If this is worth my time to read it, why don't you put some effort to give it perspective? These always leave me wondering how this compares with last year this time, and I'd like to see the officials pushed a little to say how much they think they are NOT catching here, along the Texas border and the entire border. And how does what BP confiscates compare with what customs gets at the POEs? And how do customs feel about how much slips past their inspections?

I think all these fine men and women are doing the very best they can but it would be good to know what it would take to let the hammer down even harder on these foreign based criminals.

Where do you think the

Where do you think the photos came from ? Sure, the US Gov will let anyone who wants to walk into a secure facility and snap all the photos they want. The G puts out the info in a press release and this media outlet distributed it. I guess it would be better for the Gov to say nothing so that tax payers will think everything is dandy. Some people are just never satisfied.

To all that wear the green uniform...

THANK YOU

for all that you do.

Democrats, led by Speaker

Democrats, led by Speaker dictator Nancy Pelosi, has caused a major ripple effect amongst others of the party members, by intimidating them. She and other leading Democrats have not only engineered ADVERSELY THE BORDER FENCE, but also trying to gut SAVE Act (H.R.4088). That only 10 have signed the Discharge Petition. The other 39 Democrats have heard the ominous message loud and clear that if they sign the petition and it gets the necessary 218 signatures to force a vote, those Democrats should not count on any favors or help for their congressional Districts from the House leaders. It is obviously to appease the predator businesses, that hire cheap labor, but also church interference and ethnic caucuses. Alas, money talks when re-election is concerned, and to blazes with the 80% of public outcry, who want their borders regulated and the 12 to 30 million illegal immigrants with families to go home. The SAVE ACT (H.R. 4088) is an enforcement Federal bill, which would put arrogant employers in prison or heavily fine them. If you are frustrated with your dollars supporting illegal aliens, compliments of pariah employers, demand your representative co-author the SAVE ACT. free faxes at NUMBERSUSA and toll-free both parties at ((202-224-3121)

Alright, Go Border Patrol.

Alright, Go Border Patrol. Thanks for all the long hot/cold days spent in the middle of nowhere, for all the long nights standing at check points or wandering through cactus and critter infested pitch black countryside and for enduring the dangers inherent in trying to keep something as ingenious as a human being from entering our great nation illegally.
