Illegals attend our schools
By positive - Posted on January 30th, 2008
How come illegal aliens kids attend our school in Del Rio? Is the school system asking for social security numbers for the parents and the kids? I am curious as to how it works!

This certainly is a
This certainly is a legitimate issue. We can no longer afford to be politically correct at the expense of our existence. This country is broke, if you hadn't heard, and yet we continue to waste money in all directions, illegal alien’s medical and educational assistance.
Sure, being humane is admirable and we have done more than our fair share globally, but it is getting to a point of being stupid to put everyone else above our own. Not to mention pork barrel spending and ear marks that continue to take place in Washington, yet the answer always seems to be the same old same answer by our politicians. They want you to believe that they can give you more and do more for you. This is one reason why this mentality of entitlement has loomed over us like a dark cloud.
I want personal responsibilities, I want those who bought too much house and foreclosed to recognize that it was them that signed on the dotted line; our government cannot continue to bail out and reward bad behavior.
This isn't the America that I know!
I know not all the kids(and
I know not all the kids(and parents) who we think are illegals, aren't, but it does suck that we have to pay for them to come over here and work, use our hospitals, and so many other things, and not pay for them. We are stuck paying for all their needs and they get it easy. They also come over here in their vehicles which aren't insured over here. So, if they get in an accident, even if it was their fault, if you have insurance, your insurance has to pay to fix your car and theirs. That is so messed up I don't even want to think about it. We seriously need to do something about this because our town is in enough trouble as it is.
Well excuse me, but "was" is
Well excuse me, but "was" is considered informal English while "were" is considered formal English. There's a big difference between my informal English and the Ebonics 101 the OP uses.
If I was "positive" I would
If I was "positive" I would quit worrying about the illegals in school and worry more about learning proper grammar. Your incoherent ramblings make you look bad.
Thanks for your feedback, I
Thanks for your feedback, I will try to do better next time. But to tell me to stop worrying about Illegals in school is to say it's OK to break the law. I can't understand your thinking Moderator.
You mean if I were positive,
You mean if I were positive, not "if I was Positive". Your grammar needs a little work yourself.
This is a legitimate issue; this is the waste of government programs and a bigger waste of our tax money. If you don't worry about illegals then you must be living in LALA land. There are multiple economic as well as social issues associated with the current system whereby Illegals take advantage of medical services, schools and other services when our government cannot afford to simply supply all of its citizens with these services. I would be worried!
So true, a LOT of kids are
So true, a LOT of kids are getting the free US Education with parents choosing to live in Mexico and paying nothing into the school system. Of the 2.27% tax rate for property tax's in Del Rio 1.1% goes to the school system, even if you don't have kids in school your stuck paying for the freeloaders!!
The illegals go to all
The illegals go to all public schools. Kind of like they use all public hospitals. And it is free for them. I doubt any, but the wealthy, pay a tuition or a doctor bill.
But then why should they? You and I welcome them, provide them with food, housing and an education for free if they can make it here. One day, when you, the tax paying citizen of this county, get mad enough about sending too much of your paycheck to the government, something might be done. Unfortunately, you won't have enough money left to pay the politicians to vote they way you want them to on illegal immigrant issues. It is basically a no-win situation.
Hey, don't think the border is any different than any other part of the nation. It is a national problem and won't get fixed until ALL CITIZENS (no matter what your ethnic background is) rise up and shout it out loud....."WE ARE TIRED OF THE ILLEGALS BEING ABLE TO TAKE FROM US MORE THAN WE ARE GIVEN OURSELVES!"
The District staff used to
The District staff used to go once or twice a year to the port of entry in the morning and check who was coming to school from Mexico and take action. Then it came to be that they weren't welcome on federal property. Go figure.
When I was going through the
When I was going through the paperwork to put my four year old in head start there was a tiering system for selection on the forms.
Immigrant workers were listed ABOVE military.
Kinda funny when you have so
Kinda funny when you have so many vets here, and Del Rio prides itself on being a military town isn't it?
Del Rio isn't a military
Del Rio isn't a military town. Do you ever see I LOVE LAUGHLIN Days? Military Appreciation week? Please don't confused getting a pay check from Pride. Our VETS and retired military are just going thru the motions..Each is Own...
There are many U.S. Citizen
There are many U.S. Citizen children living in Mexico that were born to Mexican National parents. They have the right to attend school in the U.S. So this particular group are not "illegal" aliens. However, to attend a public school in Texas you must be a resident of Texas, or pay tuition to the school. So the U.S. children crossing the border every morning going to a public school are not "illegal" but the school district should take action to make sure every child is a Texas resident or make them pay! Many use a relatives Del Rio address to get around the requirement! I am NOT saying that there are no Illegal aliens attending our school, I am sure they are. There are also alot of Lawful Permanent Residents attending schools who may get stereotyped as illegals, their parents may even have Mexico license plates, but that does not make them "illegal"!
