Former Del Rio Hoops Star
By hoopster - Posted on January 19th, 2008
Former Del Rio basketball star Jermaine Bishop is a starting guard for the University of Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, a Division 1 school located in Flagstaff, Arizona. As of today, Saturday, January the 19th, they are in first place with a Big Sky conference record of 4 wins and 1 loss, and 12 wins and 6 losses overall.
On two recent games that were broadcast via Foxsports-Pacific, Jermaine was talked about quite a bit. Earlier this week in a game versus Montana State, the game's commentors turned the mic over to the public address announcer who introduced the starting line ups for both teams. It was a good feeling to hear the P.A. announcer state, "Starting at guard, at six feet-one, from Del Rio, Texas, number 22, Jermaine Bishop!"
It does a heart good to hear about a local kid doing well on a national stage. Jermaine transferred to the University of Northern Arizona after a two year stay at Temple Junior College. Congratulations to Jermaine and continued good luck.
