Del Rio professional rodeo cowboy Houston Hutto has arrived in Las Vegas, Nev., to continue his quest for a world championship in tie-down calf roping.
Currently ranked second in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s tie-down calf roping standings entering into the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR), Hutto qualified for the WNFR by landing among the top fifteen, measured by dollars won in his event at the end of the regular season which runs from September to September. The WNFR, which runs December 6-15, will allow each contestant to compete 10 times during the 10 days in the event(s) for which they qualify.
With $5.5 million at stake over the 10-day competition, world championships are up for grabs in bareback bronc riding, tie-down calf roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding.
A daily update on the WNFR go-round winners will be pod-cast over Southwest Texas LIVE! as well as online at www.swtexaslive.com. The up-to-date pod casts will be presented by Del Rio Feed and Supply. A complete story on Houston Hutto and his amazing race for a world title is featured in this month’s edition of Southwest Texas LIVE! due out Thursday (Dec. 6).
