This Bill was introduced in the Texas Legislature on 11-14-06.

It is relating to housing prisoners in a tent or other facility in lieu of a county jail.
From our personal perspective we feel this is a fantastic idea that needs to be supported by all Texas residents. Since our Military lives in tents why should we give special treatment for lawbreakers? As some may be aware the Maricopa, Arizona county jail, under the direction of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, maintains an inmate tent facility, controversial in some arenas – not ours.
Bill Author: Phil King, State Representative 61st District.
Since his election in 1998, King has made an impact on Texas public policy. In 1999, his colleagues named him “Freshman Legislator of the Year”, “Rookie Legislator of the Year” by Texas Monthly, and “Crime Fighter of the Year” by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas. In his second term, he was named a “Fighter for Free Enterprise” by the Texas Association of Business for his work on pro-business issues, and was honored by the Texas State Rifle Association for legislation implementing a firearms safety program in public schools.

It was read the first time
It was read the first time on 1-31-07 (filled 11-14-06) and passed on the Corrections Dept. for review the same day. Considering that it is a short one-page bill, with creative wording we feel it will pass.
Hey Sanoma do you have any
Hey Sanoma do you have any idea how this one came out?? Housing the prisoners in tents is a great idea, "sure cheaper to build LOL" Maybe sweating your butt off or freezing it off, like our service members do would serve as a deterrent to some of the criminals. And a few of the green eggs out of a mermite can would be good for them also :)
