The truth about our legal system
By WJVW - Posted on September 13th, 2006
Having watched for many years, it has become apparent that the only way for a person of average or less than average income to secure a competent attorney if needed is to commit a crime. Those accused of criminal behavior are afforded the best representation possible, paid for by your taxes. Those who are involved of civil matters are given a very short period of time to find an attorney who will work with them given their inability to cough up mega bucks.
Our legal system isn't a legal system. It's a shameful scam.
Abusers get better representation (at no cost) than victims of abuse. And your taxes are paying for it.

I agree with what you are
I agree with what you are saying, I think. However, I must point out that the legal system is just a system--manmade, and perpetuated by those who made and maintain it. Lawyers made the system; lawyers continue to legislatie (make laws); these laws perpetuate their own livelihoods. The main idea to focus on is this: NEVER make the mistake of equating justice with the law. Justice is a concept; the law is manmade. And if it is manmade, it can't ever be justice.
Remember when a handshake was a man's bond? You could trust another person to pay a debt, without a piece of paper--much less notarized, etc.? Literally no modern transaction can now be concluded without the service of an attorney. There is more than a little something wrong with this picture!
And it's true--a person can get the best defense he or she can afford. If you have the money, you can get the best. If you don't--well, the system beats you down.
Any ideas as to how to correct this corrupt system?
